Styling With Brittany Chenault

Brittany Chenault is a wardrobe stylist based out of New York City. Her style exemplifys looks that are a mixture of chic, sassy, and fun. About 6 years ago Brittany located to New York from Georgia to fulfill a dream of being a stylist. We worked with Brittany about 3 years ago on a lookbook that was inspired by fun spring/summer looks that ranged from your everyday wear to work wear that can be easily transitioned to chic, sexy night looks. Each look had a personal touch that displayed Brittany’s personal style.

Brittany holds a extensive resume of styling in the mercedez Benz week fashion show, seventeen magazine, nylon magazine, VH1, and the list goes on. During the photo shoot we spoke about her inspiration to becoming a stylist. I found out her inspiration came from wanting to help and inspire people to find their confidence. I was curious to know what she had learned in her experience working in the fashion industry because we all know the glitz and glamour does not always come with the job.  Brittany simply replied with pleasantly worded response;

“As business, as a women and as an artist. When you get into this business a lot of reality checks come to play.  While it’s a great a beautifulc areer, it’s not as glamorous as TV portrays it to be. You will not only need a slice but a whole piece of humble pie when working in this industry as well as a glass of patients and focus.”

Brittany’s advice to any inspiring stylist is

“If this is a career you truly want to pursue, absolutely go for it. But always put your best foot forward. cause what you give or present is a representation of you. If your work is half ass people will treat you as such. But never be afraid of the unknown or failing. It’s how you learn, just have faith in what you believe in.”

This look was inspired around the wooden tie line Woodymoth. I loved the earthy texture it gave. I wanted to keep it cool, fun and versatile to wear for different occasions.  I blended it with a light washed bleached jean button up shirt, layering it with a field jacket and khaki pants. I threw in a fresh pair of infrared Jordan 6’s to add a cool factor to outfit. The look to the left was of a earthy tones of the button down olive green shirt, brown ben sherman shoes, and khaki pants. I decided to lighten the look by throwing a white linen blazer. I paired this look with a wooden tie, a gold watch and sunglasses for the cool effect.

This look was pretty much a no brainer. The black body suit by Alexx Maxxx instantly gave me sexy but classy.  To keep the look versatile for day to night I threw a vintage plaid gold button blazer, along with a statement necklace to break  the look from day to night giving her the ability to take it off for a night out.

Look three is a fun business look paired with a white  sheer woven long sleeve shirt and high waisted organic wool pant, to keep it fun. I threw in some pearls giving her the ability to stand out in the office as well as after work for happy hour.

Look five was strictly made for a fun summer day. Letting the skirt to be the focal point. I didn’t want to over do it with colors so I threw on a Alexx Maxxx white Jean jacket and a Defend t-shirt along with colorful wedges.

Look six is a romantic business look. Giving her the ability to be worn for a date night. To complete the business look a I suggest a Chanel inspired knit blazer to truly bring the look together.

Look seven and eight were created around the strong prints and colors, letting the prints do the work and the accessories complete the story. Both being versatile for day to night. Pairing look Seven with red thigh high leggings brought a chic sense to the dress.
