Takeoff’s Debut Single Album Review

The feature album by the youngest Migos is finally here. “The Last Rocket” by Takeoff shows us why he shouldn’t be underestimated. Takeoff has a reputation of being the lesser known of the group and the least in the spotlight, but on this album all I can say is he has all eyes on him. The almost featureless album showcases Takeoff’s individuality and why he’s underrated. He gives us the typical bangers that the Migos is known for with some infectious beats, as well as songs that sound more like a love song.

Martian, the first song on the album, starts off with a rocket takeoff simulation. When the beat drops, Takeoff comes in hard with that smooth flow we know him for. This is definitely a song you will want to bop your head to. It is the perfect intro song to “take off” into the album.

She Gon Wink features his fellow group member Quavo. It automatically sounds like something you’d hear off of the next ‘Culture” album. As the second song on the album, it has a rap drum heavy beat with a hook by Quavo rapping.

Last Memory, which is the lead single for the album starts off with a eerie beat produced by MonstaBeatz. Takeoff then proceeds to rap about all he’s gotten since gaining fame. In my opinion, he was definitely feeling himself on this beat, and even changes up his flow brining some heat to the song. Now I see why he made this his single.

Casper, which is probably one of the best songs on the album, has a more chill vibe instead of a turn up vibe. It’s one of those songs you want to play driving late at night. In this song Takeoff raps about “ghost riding a Wraith.” It’s a play on words with Casper the Friendly Ghost. He also throws in those ad-libs that we know Quavo for doing.

Infatuation is the song on the album that shows a whole different side of Takeoff featuring singer Daytona Foxx. Between Daytona Foxx’s funky vocals and Takeoff this song gives off an old-school R&B vibe. In this song he raps about wanting to give a girl anything she wants, and how his possessions don’t compare to her love, “It ain’t ‘bout the cars, it ain’t all about the chains, looking up at the stars thinking look what I became.”

Takeoff was able to successfully set himself apart from his Migos group members and show us that he has a distinct sound. It was a good first album that could have used a little more press coverage. The album wasn’t really heard about until about a week or two before its released, but most of the songs have the potential to be on top music charts. “The Last Rocket” is definitely a standout album, and one to add to your music library.

I love to create content that captivates readers. My favorite thing to say is something you just have to block out the world and out your head down to work. I hope you are enjoying your time on the website, and I really appreciate you. Definitely leave a comment if you love what you see.
