Chaz Greene is the founder of the company Trill tea. Trill tea, is not your average cup of tea. They create infused tea flavors named after hip hop classics. The inspiration to start Trill tea came in 2016 when Chaz discovered the lack of tea options in his office kitchen, one day when he was not feeling very well. The only option was Lipton and as an evade tea drinker the taste of Lipton was not his number one choice.
As a college drop-out Chaz Greene is focused on not allowing that to be his ceiling because a “cozy job” as Chaz would call it is not something he wanted to get comfortable by. What makes Trill tea different from other tea companies is how they incorporated the hip hop culture within their products. They want to grow to be similar to a conglomerate company like Red Bull, but focused on creating media that highlights the culture of hip hop. In an interview Chaz Greene did with pardon my audacity he said;
“Hip hop to me is a lifestyle that encourages you to be unapologetic, no matter how raw or seemingly contradictory it may be. That’s perfect for a brand that encourages being true to yourself. I had never seen a consumer product good that was clearly of the culture, still embraced the rough edges we love so much, and still had taste”
Each tea is made up of a distinct name that is very flavorful in taste. In the interview Chaz did with pardon my audacity he also said;
The names are honestly inspired by my need to be authentic. I want the names as well as the brand as a whole to always be clever. I don’t want the brand to ever be gimmicky, super raw but tasteful, and aspirational but relatable.
